Hey there, Joel
Have I mentioned yet that it's hot here? Cause, if not I will again - IT'S SO HOT. We have our room AC on 64º 24/7 and it's a fridge at night for us which is so great for sleeping and getting ready in the morning... but then within 15 minutes of leaving we're sweating and it just never goes away.
Anyway, today was a particularly sweaty day. This morning it was time to get cultural and go visit Meiji Jingu shrine in the heart of Tokyo. We had a little mishap that Jethro will tell you about, but other than that it was beautiful, so very beautiful. And, we saw a Shinto wedding going on out and about the grounds.
Upon exiting we're right outside Harajuku Station, which is the pop culture hub of Tokyo - and it did not disappoint! Street food all over, cosplay characters, and several animal cafes (little shops with cats, dogs, mini-pigs and even otters!). It was a lot of fun.
Now, one of the funniest things we saw were t-shirts. So many funny shirts, but nothing was better than this Shark series. Unfortunately there were like $35/shirt and we're just not that rich!
Once we wrapped up at Harajuku we headed back to our pool for a swim. Only we didn't swim. It was like 5:30 and well Jamie fell asleep rather quickly while I was doing some laundry and once that wrapped up around 7:30 I too fell asleep. Sooo this is a day late because sleep was needed!
Until tomorrow!
Get lost, eh?
Today, Joel, Jamie and I were supposed to meet up at the Meiji-Jingu shrine. Somehow, I didn’t get the directions correctly. So, I went an hour out of the way to the wrong place! It was still a great opportunity, fun train ride, and a beautiful shrine.
We did meet up in Harajuku where we had delicious food, saw some cool shops, and had a great time. I’ve been giving Katya’s stickers to people, and this melon pan shop wanted me to follow them on Instagram, because getting followers is part of her job!
Then we headed back to our respective hotels to do laundry. I did make it to the shrine, and also saw a wedding there.
Yesterday, I went to visit a school, because I’m a nerd, and had lunch at the very cute old couple’s restaurant. They’ve been in business for 42 years. They were adorable.
